U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Tuesday the U.S. is obligated to adopt policies, including toward Saudi Arabia, that further national security. He said that U.S. business negotiations with the kingdom would go ahead despite President Trump saying that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman may have known about the plan to murder dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi last month.
