McRaven, who was involved in some of the U.S. military's most delicate missions, from the daring rescue of Captain Richard Phillips in the pirate-infested waters of Somalia to the midnight raid that killed Osama bin Laden, an operation he led while running the U.S. Special Operations Command. McRaven retired in 2014.
